DISCRIPTION : The alkenyl succinic amides are useful in providing a lubricating oil composition comprising a major amount of an oil of lubricating viscosity and an amount of a succinic anhydride, polysuccinimide or modified succinimide additive sufficient to provide dispersancy. These additives may also be formulated in lubricating oil concentrates which contain about 10 to about 50 weight percent of the additive. Furthermore, the polyisobutylene succinic amide can be used to provide a fuel composition comprising a major portion of a fuel boiling in a gasoline or diesel range and an amount of succinic anhydride, polysuccinimide or modified succinimide additive sufficient to provide dispersancy. These additives can also be used to make fuel concentrates comprising an inert stable oleophilic organic solvent boiling in the range of about 65°C. to about 220°C and from about 5 to about 50 weight percent of such additive.
